THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

We offer a range of services on questions of life that shape identity. In our experience, people have a need to reflect on their professional and private actions and roles. This also touches on aspects of self-confidence and self-awareness. The latter does not only include the conviction of one’s own person and abilities.
At the educational institution, we are much more concerned with the intrinsic attitude: Who am I and what makes me who I am?

Commitment, interest, empathy: they improve our interpersonal interaction and ultimately also the methods and perspectives in hospice work. This is what we are committed to at the Bildungswerk.

“With its committed program, motivated staff and volunteers, the Bildungswerk Hospiz Elias has been showing for a decade that the topics of dying and death do not belong on the margins of society, but must be brought into the center.”

Jutta Steinruck, Mayor of the City of Ludwigshafen

FURTHER EDUCATION

  • Orientation seminars:
These are the prerequisite for participation in the advanced seminar for volunteer hospice caregivers. The seminar focuses on the history of the hospice movement, its current principles and insights into the different areas and challenges of hospice work.
  • Advanced seminar:
This serves as a targeted qualification for volunteer work as a companion for seriously ill and dying people and their relatives. The advanced seminar comprises fixed teaching units and an internship in an outpatient or inpatient facility for the elderly.
  • Last aid courses:
These courses provide fundamental knowledge and basic skills from hospice and palliative work for good care and support at the end of life. Our last-aid courses are aimed at relatives and help them to prepare for their own end-of-life care. They have a limited number of participants and therefore require registration.

EXPERIENCE

  • “Hospice & Culture”:
Readings, film evenings and exhibitions are an integral part of our program. As part of these programs, we want to show that there are many different aspects to the range of topics covered by a hospice that are worth seeing and hearing and that it is worth thinking outside the box.
  • Excursions:
We explore places together that can help people deal with the issues of grief, dying and death. We are interested in sharing our perceptions in a group. And to always see light and life in dealing with grief and dying.

sharing

  • In-house seminars:
Our education team organizes seminars or training events with you and comes to your facility. We want to promote knowledge transfer and interdisciplinary work in the healthcare sector. We determine the duration of the measure together according to the desired content.
