TIME!
FOR YOURSELF
AND FOR OTHERS

Helping is a task and a wonderful experience. Volunteering at a hospice means coming to terms with life in all its facets. We at Elias Hospice, as well as our patients and their relatives, are very grateful for the support and commitment of our hospice volunteers.
Because: Volunteering is the basis for outpatient and inpatient hospice work. Our volunteers accompany the seriously ill and their relatives for several hours a week. They visit them at home, in care homes and hospitals, but also in inpatient hospices.

“Being there for others and not putting yourself at the center can be very fulfilling and straightens things out.”

THERE IS NOTHING UNIMPORTANT

There is not always one right answer, one solution. But the importance of our volunteer hospice caregivers’ commitment to patients and their families lies in sharing both difficult and beautiful, everyday moments. Being there. Listening. Giving support. Relieve the burden.

The opportunities for volunteers in outpatient and inpatient hospices are as individual as the people they accompany. The prerequisite for volunteering is the successful completion of a basic and advanced seminar, which is organized internally by the hospice.

After a subsequent internship, the course participants decide where they would like to work. Of course, the “accompaniment of the companions” does not end with their qualification, but continues in daily cooperation with our full-time team. This includes group meetings with the group leader, supervision and help with personal hygiene.
